La Finca: A different kind of active holiday

Mallorca Is Made for Outdoor Living

For anyone who loves nature, movement and spending as much time as possible outside, Mallorca offers something very special.

There are few places where you can start the day with a walk through the countryside, spend the morning hiking in the mountains, cycle through quiet roads between villages, ride a horse through the landscape and finish the afternoon beside the Mediterranean, all without having to travel very far.

And while Mallorca is often associated with summer, we actually love the island just as much when the temperatures become milder and nature takes centre stage.

From November onwards, daytime temperatures can still reach around 20–21°C on beautiful sunny days and 16–17°C in December. The evenings are cooler, but during the day, the weather is often wonderfully comfortable for being active outside.

For outdoor living, these temperatures can be ideal.

When being outside becomes the plan

In the height of summer, you often organise your day around the heat.

You walk early, find shade during the afternoon and spend long hours in the sea or pool.

When the temperatures drop, Mallorca opens up in a different way.

You can put on your walking shoes after breakfast and simply head out. You can spend several hours hiking without the intense Mediterranean sun, take your bike through the countryside, go for a run in the middle of the day or explore a new part of the island on foot.

Hiking through the island

Mallorca is an extraordinary place to explore on foot, from the dramatic peaks and winding paths of the Tramuntana to the quieter countryside around the centre of the island.

The cooler months make longer walks particularly enjoyable, especially when the landscape begins to change after the first rains and the countryside becomes greener and fresher.

A hike can easily become an entire day.

You might leave in the morning, follow a mountain trail, stop for lunch in a village and continue exploring before heading home as the light begins to change.

Cycling through the countryside

Cycling is another beautiful way to see Mallorca because the island is small enough to explore but varied enough that almost every route feels different.

There are mountain climbs for experienced cyclists, but there are also quiet country roads that take you through fields, olive groves and small villages where the best part of the day might be stopping for a coffee rather than reaching a particular destination.

The milder temperatures make longer rides much more comfortable, and there is something wonderful about cycling through the countryside when you are not surrounded by the intensity of the summer season.

Golf with the island around you

September is also the perfect time to rediscover the island beyond its coastline.

Golf is another wonderful way to experience Mallorca outdoors, particularly when the temperatures are mild enough to spend several hours on the course without the intensity of summer.

There are courses across the island, from coastal settings with views towards the Mediterranean to beautiful inland courses surrounded by trees and countryside.

A round of golf naturally slows the day down in the best possible way. You are outside for several hours, walking between holes, taking in the landscape and allowing the surroundings to become part of the experience.

Perhaps this is why we love Mallorca so much outside the traditional summer season.

An active day here does not necessarily mean booking a class or following an itinerary.

It can mean hiking through the mountains, cycling to a village, playing eighteen holes, riding a horse, walking through the countryside, exploring the coast or simply spending more time outside.

At La Finca, all of this comes together naturally.

The land, the animals, the garden, the surrounding countryside and the Mediterranean are not separate experiences. They become part of the same way of living.

You wake up surrounded by nature, move through the landscape, come back for lunch and still have an entire afternoon ahead of you.

There is a reason Mallorca attracts people who love being outdoors.

It gives you mountains and sea, countryside and coast, challenging routes and gentle walks, golf courses and hiking trails, movement and stillness, all within the same island.
